Prioritizing new energy development, CHN Energy has adopted a diversified, rapid, large-scale, efficient and science-based development strategy, focusing on large-scale base construction. The Group has accelerated the development of new energy bases in desert and arid regions, including the Tengger Desert in Ningxia region and the Badain Jaran Desert in Gansu province. It is also advancing integrated hydropower and wind-solar projects in the Dadu River basin and renewable energy bases in the Kaidu River basin.

In hydropower, CHN Energy has a total of 8.24 million kilowatts of conventional hydropower currently under construction, ranking first in China. The Group is also actively developing new energy storage solutions, completing and commissioning 100 new storage projects with a total installed capacity of 3.33 million kilowatts/5.95 million kilowatt-hours by the end of 2024.

CHN Energy has established a comprehensive renewable energy portfolio encompassing wind, solar, biomass, tidal, geothermal and hydrogen energy. This diversified approach contributes to the transformation of China's power system towards large-scale integration of new energy sources. The Group is also implementing locally tailored renewable energy replacement applications and exploring innovative uses of renewable energy in sectors such as transportation, construction and agriculture, driving the green and low-carbon transformation of industrial production and energy consumption.
